What to Expect on a Discovery Weekend
Just a few notes that apply to all of our Discovery Weekends.
We've designed this page so that you get the most out of your weekend, no matter where we're meeting you.
We encourage all of our guests to attend all of the scheduled events, sessions and tours. The agenda of each weekend is carefully planned to allow you plenty of free time and plenty of privacy.
A credit card is always necessary to check into the hotel. A simple voucher secures the room and covers any additional individual expenses that are not part of the Discovery Package. Such expenses could include:
Phone calls (local & long distance) Extra food or drinks Room service Laundry & dry cleaning Mini bar Movie rentals The same credit card could be used to add days/nights to your stay. We always try to provide a reduced rate so that you can extend your stay.
If you’re wondering what to pack for your weekend trip, a few factors to take into account are the weather, the culture, and the occasion.
Since many of our destinations are very hot in the daytime and rainy or even cold at night, we recommend light summer clothes and a light but comfortable jacket or sweater. Dress is always casual.
Almost all of the culture's we visit are quite traditional and so beach favorites like cutoff shorts and skimpy tops that are perfectly appropriate on the beach may be met with frowns off the beach.
Discovery Weekends are a relaxing way to learn about retiring or investing abroad. You can leave your business attire at home, and dress comfortably for the talks and tours. Our cocktails and dinners are just as relaxed, like a dinner with your neighbors – or in this case, your future neighbors - but you'll feel better wearing something just a little bit nicer to the evening events.
