Punta Cana & Bavaro, Dominican Republic

Punta Cana & Bavaro are areas made up primarily of some of the Dominican Republic’s most spectacular resorts, some oriented towards family acitivites or golf, or similar sports, all of them are very popular with international tourists and university students. The area also includes Cap Cana, Juanillo, Cabeza de Toro, El Cortecito, Arena Gorda, Macao and Uvero Alto.

Relatively isolated at the easternmost point of the Dominican Republic, Punta Cana makes up the most important tourist area in the country. Self-contained, and largely self-sustaining, the resorts, developments and communities here, are among the finest in the country and leave very little to be desired in terms of amenities and luxuries on down to basic utilities. The surrounding country provides caves, mangroves, and the private beaches of nearby Hato Mayor and El Seibo provinces are equally enticing neighbors. The Punta Cana area is well developed, but the nearest real city, Higuey, requires a 40 minute drive. Beyond the resorts, the countryside and beaches are extensive and pristine. Nearby Manatee Park, a wildlife ecological/adventure site and the Ponce de Leon house, near Boca de Yuma, complement the development of new marinas, resorts, and housing complexes that have begun flourishing in the area.
