Valle de Bravo, Mexico

Just about 2 hours drive west of Mexico City, Valle de Bravo’s pine covered mountains surround beautiful Lake Avándaro. Once exquisite farm land, the lake was created by a dam intended to supply electricity to Mexico City. Still a major weekend destination for Mexico City’s affluent, Valle de Bravo’s surrounding peaks are world famous for the paragliding they make possible.
With a central plaza surrounded by gourmet shops, galleries and crafts stores, Valle de Bravo’s reputation for outdoor activities surrounds far into the surrounding mountains and forests. Biking, sailing, water-skiing, hiking, rock climbing, horseback riding, and ATV and motorcycle riding are just some of the activities popular in the area. The Temple of Santa Maria, in one of the city’s oldest neighborhoods, is home to the "Black Christ," famous for its alleged miracle-working.
Day-time temperatures remain in the 80s fahrenheit (26-30 Celsius) from March through June, at night dropping to the low 60s. From August through November, the rainy season can cause somewhat erratic weather conditions but extremes of temperature or precipitation are very rare.
