Amazing Hacienda Montaña del Sol
Time in Santo Domingo de Heredia seems to stand still under the swift moving clouds that cross over it. As close as it is to San José’s bustle, life in the farms and country homes of Santo Domingo remains as quiet and as pretty as it was when it was established 250 years ago. Hacienda Montaña del Sol captures that quiet simplicity in both its structure and landscaping. Built on 1 1/2 acres (6,000 m2) of land surrounded by emerald green coffee fields, this 5,400-sq. ft. (500-m2) home combines comfort and sophistication seamlessly. Modelled after the Mexican hacienda, its tall ceilings are elegantly thatched in bamboo in places and have exposed beams in others. The light and airy atmosphere is gently grounded by rustic wood detail, brick and tile. The living room, dining room and kitchen are one large integrated space. There are two children’s bedrooms with one bath. The guestroom and maid’s quarters also include bathrooms. The master bedroom includes a private living room on a large, glass-enclosed patio. Since the weather year round in Costa Rica feels like springtime, this indoor-outdoor patio provides a cosy and gracious retreat. Santo Domingo has one of the best locations in the Central Valley. Only fifteen minutes from the Juan Santamaria Airport and a ten-minute drive from both downtown San José and Heredia, it enjoys near access to all the services, schools, shopping centres, restaurants, nightlife and cultural activity the capital has to offer.
